A T-drainage catheter, commonly called a "T-tube, is a medical device inserted into the common bile duct during surgery to temporarily drain bile, allowing the bile duct to heal properly after procedures like gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy), where the duct may have been manipulated; it is essentially a tube shaped like a "T" that provides a controlled pathway for bile to drain externally into a collection bag while the surgical site heals.
